During a trade fair in Berlin, Axelle and I met Mischaël who was presenting the work he was doing in Bangaldesh. He had created a workshop where he employed artisans who perpetuated ancestral know-how of weaving and dyeing with natural indigo. The delicacy of what he proposed was dazzling. Mischaël quickly suggested that we work together. At the start, we were a little cautious, this meant new shipments, customs clearances, a whole new process to put in place. And then Bangladesh suffers from a bad reputation when it comes to working conditions in companies. Everyone keeps in mind the drama of Rana Plaza.
Mischaël was able to convince us: in Bangladesh too there was know-how to protect, ethical workshops to operate.
We decided to make large silk stoles with him, dyed with indigo.
I drew diamond patterns, striped patterns, grids... We chose the quality of the silk, its thickness, its lightness, its delicacy.
Today, we can't do without them, these stoles keep you warm over a small jacket in mid-season, are used to wrap yourself up at the end of the day at the beach, they tie, catch the wind, have incredible class!
