TAHOUA NECKLACE
- Description
- Composition and weight
Long necklace composed of a cross from Tahoua, a town in the north of Niger, mounted on a long golden brass chain.
The story of the Tahoua necklace:
Symbol of love, fertility, the crosses in Niger are 21 in number and represent the oases located on the route of nomadic tribes. Today each cross represents a city and makes it easy to recognize the origin of the people who wear it.
The origin of these crosses is very vague, some authors link it to the time of Pharaonic Egypt, others to the influence of Christianity through the symbol which resembles the Christian cross, others symbolize it as representing the four cardinal points,...
The Tahoua necklace is delivered in a pretty natural kraft box.
